StateMap Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-10-26

This privacy policy applies to the StateMap app (the "Application") for mobile devices, created by Volodymyr Chornenkyi (the "Service Provider") and offered as a free service. It also describes analytics on the StateMap website.

On this page 9 sections

Your emotion data stays on your device

Everything you record in StateMap, including the emotions you select, your comments, your history and your reminder settings, is stored only in a local database on your phone. StateMap has no user accounts, no sign-in and no cloud sync, and the Service Provider cannot see or access your entries.

Because the data lives on your device, it is protected by your device's own security. Uninstalling the Application or using the "erase data" option in Settings removes it.

Information we do not collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number or any other account information (there is no account)
  • The contents of your entries or comments
  • Your location. The Application does not request location permission
  • Your contacts, photos, microphone or camera data

Anonymous analytics and crash reports

To keep the Application stable and to understand which features are useful, the Application sends a limited amount of anonymized technical data to Google Firebase and PostHog:

  • Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase and PostHog): anonymous events such as which screens or features are used (for example, that an emotion was saved or a reminder was enabled), together with basic technical context such as app version, operating system version, device model and language. Events never contain the text of your comments or the content of your entries.
  • Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): anonymous technical information about a crash, such as the error, app version and device and operating system details, used only to find and fix bugs.
  • Remote configuration (Firebase Remote Config): the Application may download non-personal settings that adjust how features behave.

This data is not linked to your identity. The Application does not set a user ID, and does not ask for or send your name or email. Google and PostHog may process an anonymous app-instance identifier and your IP address to deliver these services; the IP address is not used by the Service Provider to identify you. The Service Provider does not sell this data or use it for advertising.

On the StateMap website, Vercel Web Analytics measures page views. PostHog measures which language page was opened, App Store and Google Play button clicks, and whether visitors use the interactive emotion demo. Demo events include only the selection level, not the emotion selected. Website PostHog analytics does not use cookies or browser storage, create person profiles, or record sessions. PostHog may process the visitor's IP address to deliver these events.

If you choose a language from the website menu, a first-party cookie stores only its language code for one year so the homepage remembers your choice. This cookie is not used for analytics.

If the analytics or crash-reporting providers change, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.

Third-party services

The Application uses services that have their own privacy policies:

The Service Provider may disclose information only where required by law, or where necessary to protect rights, safety or to investigate fraud.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, the Application schedules local notifications on your device. Reminder times are stored on your device and are not sent to any server.

Your choices and data deletion

You can erase all data stored by the Application from Settings, or remove everything by uninstalling it. Since your entries are not stored on any server, the Service Provider cannot recover or delete them for you. To ask about anonymous analytics or crash data, or any other privacy question, contact ask.statemap@temnistudio.com.

Children

The Application is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, please contact ask.statemap@temnistudio.com.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes are published on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Application after changes means you accept the updated policy.
